Reading Between the Lines

Yesterday’s paper included an article about an alleged al-Qaida terrorist who has been transferred from a Naval prison to Peoria, IL to stand trial on his charges in a civilian court. His attorney called this, “an important step toward restoring the rule of the law.”

You just know this is a bad idea if his lawyer thinks it’s a good thing.

Political whining out of the way, here’s the rest.

An obituary for one man listed survivors as including his wife, Lorie; and his girlfriend and companion, Evelyn. It probably didn’t require a coroner’s inquest to determine the reason of death.

And another story with some behind the scene content was about a man who shot two Ameren workers in Missouri. The president and CEO of AmerenUE was quoted with, “In my 40 years with Ameren, nothing like this has ever happened before.” If that’s true, there needs to be more emphasis on sight alignment and trigger squeeze – somebody’s pulling their shots.
