Flags Of Our Fathers

I’m going to be tied up for a few days designing a flag to suitably represent my latest expeditionary adventure. Once completed, this flag will join those of the National Geographic Society and that of the Explorers Club as background for the presentation of the Hubbard Medal.

As the 35th recipient of this medal I’ll be joining the prestigious company of other famous explorers such as Robert Bartlett, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Richard E. Byrd, Robert Peary and Matthew Henson.  I’ll need such a flag for future generations to hold up as a goal for young people with dreams.

Being rather self-effacing, it pains me somewhat to blow my own horn, but this latest achievement transcends all reasonable modesty.

This morning, as I helped my wife with the Saturday morning chores and dusted the furniture in the master bedroom, instead of my usual pattern of going around the room in a clockwise motion, I threw caution to the wind and by dusting around the room going anti-clockwise, I hung everything out there over the edge.

Marking me forever as a name to be recognized among the great explorers!
